Where: Place Fell hike from Patterdale in
the Lake District of England
When: June 2014
The Place Fell hike has some of the best
views in the Lake District of England. After
hiking to the top, you have great views down
over Patterdale, Glenridding and Ullswater
The hike starts from Patterdale, that is
situated about 14 miles southwest of Penrith
at the M6 motorway, so is also one of the
easiest mountains to get to.
The image below is of Place Fell from the
Glenridding Launch. This is one of the best
spots to view the mountain. The main trail
starts from the very small village of
Patterdale, about one mile further down the

From this car park, walk about 300 yards
south following the main road. There is a
roadside path all the way.

the Patterdale Hotel. There is another pay
and display car park at this inn.

list for my next visit to the lake
Make sure and take an Ordnance Survey Map
and Compass on these hikes, and know how to
use them, as in cloud, these mountains can be
deadly. In Winter, make sure you have
Crampons and an Ice Axe, and know how to use
