Kendal is a Market Town in southeast Cumbria, 8 miles east of the M6 motorway, 9 miles southeast of the Lake Windermere boat trips.

The image below is from the bridge at the south side of Kendal over the River Kent. There is a scenic river walk along the left side all the way to the other side of the town centre.

The road to the left runs right through Kendal centre for about two miles. This road is a number of streets such as Kirkland, Highgate, Stricklandgate, and Windermere Road.

The Church complex here is the Kendal Parish Church, one of the most impressive churches in Cumbria.

The ruins of Kendal Castle are up to the right in this image.

The image below is of the main street running through Kendal at the pedestrian only area. The one way system in Kendal directs most of the traffic down to the riverside, where most of the car parking is.

The Kendal Market Place is about 100 yards further on.

The image below is of the the Kendal Market Place into the right by the monument. The main road ahead is named Stricklandgate, with Windermere Road further on.

The Westmorland Shopping Centre is situated down to the right here at the market. There is a large underground car park below the shopping centre. Take note of where you park as it is really large, not easy to find your car again.

The Street Market here is normally held on Wednesday and Saturday.

This is said to be a good spot to watch salmon and trout leaping whilst traveling up-river. Late summer into autumn is said to be the best time of year for watching the fish.
