Heddon on the Wall

Heddon on the Wall is a village situated about 9 miles west of Newcastle. The village is a popular place to stop with walkers as it is about 16 miles out from Wallsend Roman Fort, where the Hadrian's Wall path begins or ends.

The village is also popular for people driving along the Hadrian's Wall route, with a bar diner and Inn serving food and drinks, and an interesting section of Hadrian's Wall on the northeast side of the village.

The image below left is of the section of Hadrian's Wall on the northeast side of Heddon-on-the-Wall.

The image centre is of the Swan Inn in the centre of the village for meals and drinks.

The image right is of Close House Golf Course one mile south of Heddon on the Wall. This is a top complex with two courses designed by Lee Westwood. The No 19 restaurant has great views.

Houghton North Farm is situated next to the village with bunk rooms.
